Sometimes we make a decision carefully, thoughtfully, and for all the right reasons, yet something in us keeps signalling that it no longer fits. When that happens, it is easy to believe that because we chose it, we now have to endure it, or that changing direction somehow means we have failed. But life does not always ask us to play every hand we are dealt to the end. Sometimes it asks us to read the situation more closely, to recognise when something is no longer serving us, and to tolerate the uncertainty that comes with choosing a different path.
Walking away from a relationship, a job, or a direction that is no longer working is not necessarily giving up. It can be a conscious act of self-protection, maturity, and trust in our own experience. We do not always need absolute proof that continuing would have led to loss. Sometimes it is enough to recognize that something no longer fits who we are, what we need, or the life we want to build. Strength is not only about endurance. It is also about knowing when it is time to leave the table.
